Kannawidan: Where The Joys Began

The Kannawidan Ylocos Festival is one of the most anticipated festivals in Ilocos. It is a celebration commemorating the establishment of the province of Ilocos Sur. The festival unites all Municipalities of Ilocos to contribute bringing joy and awareness.

The Kannawidan Ylocos Festival is significant to us in terms of culture and awareness. It immerses us deeper into our culture. At the festival, we promote different cultures and their histories. With the festival, we find out more within ourselves, this can be achieved by spreading awareness through the festival. The festival is a melting pot for products and food alike. Celebrating the festival is the Ilocanos’ way of giving thanks to God for everything, especially for the rich heritage, culture, and history of Ilocos Sur, including the close family ties among the Ilocanos.

Without Kannawidan, the appreciation for the rich culture of our province will eventually die down and will be inevitably forgotten. We do not want that. Our culture’s too rich to be just forgotten and dropped like that.
