Viva la Vida, Vigan
The Vigan City Festival is the time when Bigueños and visitors nationwide come home to celebrate. This festival is celebrated every 25th of January. It’s celebrated during the feast day of the conversion of St. Paul the Apostle, Vigan City’s patron saint. Vigan City Fiesta, the festival where all Bigueños are lively. Around this time, Bigueños and visitors are there to enjoy the cultural shows, street dancing, and parades. If you’re not into those, then you might like the festival’s carnivals, food fairs, and art exhibits. I love the Vigan City Fiesta. It is where you’ll feel like an actual Bigueño. But due to the pandemic, all these have to wait.
The pandemic has been depressing. Businesses and schools are put to a halt, and now the festival is too? Well, I can say that I understand why they resulted in putting the festivities to a halt but it still feels sad. Due to the pandemic, we’re now only limited to celebrating in our own houses, and running around the streets watching shows and parades is now merely only a dream that can’t be reached, at least for now. But I know that these restraints aren't stopping us Bigueños from celebrating and living life as Bigueños. We adapted to the New Normal of education, so why not adapt to a New Normal for celebrating the Vigan City Fiesta? Celebrating isn’t just limited to physical activities. We can celebrate online with friends and family.
But I still think that not
being able to celebrate the Vigan City Fiesta should be the least of our
worries. We should put the health of ourselves and others at the top of our
priorities. There are still more festivals to come, but our lives are only
limited. Yes, we should live life to the fullest but we should also live life
responsibly. Viva La Vida.

Hello, I agree with you! We must focus on defeating the virus, and to finally end this pandemic. Festivals may be prohibited but we can still continue with the celebrations.
ReplyDeleteGood day! It is truly sad that one of Bigueños' most anticipated events is prohibited. However, I agree with your statements on how we must prioritize our health. We must follow health protocols in order to control the spread of the virus. Good work!
ReplyDeleteYour statement "There are still more festivals to come, but our lives are only limited," is so true! You only live once, but that doesn't mean you can only experience once. We still have the rest of our lives to celebrate. Viva Vigan City !
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Very excellent and well-written blog, Carlo.
ReplyDeleteOf course, it isn't over yet, there is still more to come, all we have to do now is take care of ourselves and others. We'll celebrate with a bang when the epidemic is finally over!
