New Beginnings

The meaning of New Year, the most anticipated and celebrated holiday, isn’t all clear but it is widely accepted that New Year may serve as a new beginning for most. On New Year, we recognize or acknowledge our successes and failures last year and then put all those behind us and look forward to a new beginning. That hope of having a new beginning is what will give us reason to improve and do better.

Most are positive during the New Year, hoping and striving to become better than their past selves. Most people, set goals to achieve for the New Year, these are called New Year’s Resolutions. Some common resolutions are exercising to be healthier, working out to look better, and overcoming addiction. Resolutions are what inspire people to improve and do better. People are guided by the saying “New Year, New Me” in hopes to help them become better people. Although most end up not fulfilling their New Year’s resolution, at least they tried and had their priorities straight, they just needed more discipline and determination to fulfill their New Year’s resolutions. But people need to understand that to fulfill these resolutions, to be better, is to take action. You need to walk the talk, meaning that you should be putting your words into action, your goals aren’t going to be accomplished by themselves.

But with all that aside, a New Year is a new opportunity, a new beginning for people. You should cherish all your memories, good or bad, but don’t let your bad past drag you down. Instead, treat it as your inspiration that you will bring to a new year to improve and be better. Always look forward to a new year, there are always more things to come, there are always new successes, new failures, and new memories to make.
